IBM Design Lab: Concept Rationale
The work-in-progress concept is based on a simple visual element: the slash. Inspired from the angled IBM logo and in a repeated rapid pattern, the slash represents the essence of agile: constantly working, always improving and continually creating in a collaborative environment.

Differently configured, the application of the slash is a direct representation of a specific type of project or phase at Lab.
The slash is neither decorative nor superfluous when used in application. It must either tell a story or provide a point of orientation for the viewer, instantly communicating the status of a project or team.

Using the slash alphabet, the status signifier provides a point of orientation for the viewer, instantly communicating the status of a project or team.
